Our crops are finally starting to catch up now we have been blessed with regular(ish) showers and some good warm sunny days. Harvest forecasts for 2013 are somewhat below that of 2012 nationally and in some areas straw yields are
expected to be 35% down on 2012 as a result of the wet winter and late spring growing weather. Wheat straw will be in short supply due to reduced plantings, and Barley straw, in particular Spring Barley straw plantings are up on that of
Harvest 2012 acerage wise, but tonnes/bales per acre will be down due to Spring Barley being lower yielding than Winter Barley. Will will endevour to increase our stocks this harvest to cope with the steady increase in demand we have been experiencing over the past few months. Lets hope for some good sunny days over harvest and clean golden straw! Come on mother nature!
