Wheat straw baling began this afternoon in glorious sun! The swaths in front of the balers are exceptionally clean this year unlike last years ryegrass invasion of many Wheat crops. Straw yields are looking better than expected which is great news. All three balers are baling fine, we have had time since we finished Barley straw baling to complete mid season baler servicing so finger crossed, the next few weeks will be trouble free. Good weather forecasts this week mean we should be able to forge ahead. We will start bale chasing tomorrow and aim to stack as the chasers come in. All things going to plan we hope to finish Wheat straw baling by mid September weather permitting...
We stared baling today 8 August slightly later than usual but better late than never! Although the forecast shows the possibility of showers lets hope it does'nt come to much. Having checked over the straw in the swath for the next few days I am happy to see we have some bright clean weed/rubbish free straw. Weather permitting we have roughly 10 to 12 days Barley straw baling ahead of us. All three balers are working well today so if all goes to plan we should get stocked up with Barley straw for the year ahead.
